Le rossignol éperdu is a collection of 53 pieces, subdivided into 4 Series of pieces: Série I, Série II Orient, Série III Carnet de Voyage, Série IV Versailles. The pieces were published 1912 and so far it seems like a big collection of different styles and intentions similar to Alkans Esquisses or other collections. The pieces vary quite a lot in length. Every piece will have its own video, also because I don't know if I will make it through. I want to study every piece and try to get to level where I understand the piece and not just play it. It takes more time, than simply playing.

This piece has an interesting note at the beginning: "Pas lent, mais sans riguer rythmique, et avec une sorte de mélancolie moquese."
The first part is easy to understand, and I think I implemented it well: The rhythm should not be too strict throughout, and all in all it shouldn't be too slow. The second part seems rather abstract: a mocking melancolie? The middle part has some very attractive harmonic modulations, and the main theme is nice, too. It like how it fades out in a somewhat humorous way "légèrement" too; it also has some improvisatoric qualities, still it is connected in itself. This piece was composed as early as 1902. So he worked at least 10 years on the pieces.
