On September 11, 2013, the Central Railroad of New Jersey heritage unit, NS SD70ACe 1071, arrived at Ayer in middle position on eastbound train 22K at around 0330hrs. Expecting the unit to be in the same position for the trip westbound I was not anticipating an afternoon/evening chase over District 3. However, thanks to the efforts of the crew as well as the fact that the unit needed water and had to by wyed in the process, "Lady Liberty" came to the appropriate call to lead the train westbound on this September 11th. After arriving about 30 minutes late at Shirley, I managed to catch up with the train first at Otter River, followed by Brookside Road overpass east of Orange, Wendell, and lastly crawling over the Millers River on the 10 MPH track 1 at Erving as the darkness settles in.
