Australia Post Stawell Gift 2014 - Mens Final

AND THE JUDGES DECISION IS ..... VERSACE IN A PHOTO FINISH

It took over two minutes for the judges to separate this year's winner of the 2014 Australia Post Stawell Gift in one of the closest finals ever.

Luke Versace running off 10m was finally declared the winner running 12.268 seconds. Only five one thousandths of a second separated him from the second place getter, Augustine Carty-Cowling who posted an adjusted time of 12.273 seconds.
Versace, who together with his coach Bradley Armstrong have plotted this race as their target for 13 months, paid tribute to the hard work the pair had done to make this win possible.
"This would never have happened without Brad's hard work -- someone pinch me I'm a Stawell Gift winner!" Versace said post race.

2008 winner Sam Jamieson was right in the finish, 0.02 seconds behind the runner-up and only a split second away from being the 4th ever dual winner.

In other highlights from the day, paralympic world record holder Evan O'Hanlon won the XXXX Gold Chris Perry Memorial Backmarkers Invitation 120m Handicap, edging out Luke Stevens who ran second and Australia's fastest woman Melissa Breen who ran 3rd.
