This is a close-up of my Hansen's Bush Cherries and a dissection of the fruit. These bushes are about 3 years old, and have born fruit for the past two years. So far, the yields haven't been great, but they do appear to be increasing. The fruit as shown tends to be bitter and there is a large seed or stone in the center, which represents well over 50 % of the volume of the fruit itself. In order to fully exploit this fruit, there needs to be substantially greater yield, as not much that is edible can be gained from a single fruit. Also, due to the bitterness, this is probably best used as a pie or preserve base, since the bitterness can be masked and the flavor enhanced by spices and other additives to make the pie or preserve.
