As digital procurement capabilities continue to advance, multiple forces seem to be locked in a tug-of-war over which will be the driving factor in next generation platforms. Will it be generative AI, with all of its media hype, or will concerns over cyber security and the ongoing effort to protect data mean that its wings are clipped?

Interestingly, it may be a seemingly less likely force that determines the future: the evolution of the procurement team mindset. Will the profession embrace more generic platforms built for non-procurement use cases to perform basic automation tasks and garner proof-of-concept?
