Travel Charme Ifen Hotel, Kleinwalsertal - 5-star comfort in the snowy Vorarlberg Alps

Описание к видео Travel Charme Ifen Hotel, Kleinwalsertal - 5-star comfort in the snowy Vorarlberg Alps

The Travel Charme Ifen Hotel in Hirschegg is the first 5-star hotel in Kleinwalsertal. It is located in Vorarlberg, Austria, but can only be reached from Germany. The Ifen Hotel is a luxurious wellness hotel.

We spend a few relaxing winter days at the Travel Charme Ifen Hotel in Kleinwalsertal. This high mountain valley belongs to Austria, but is an exclave that can only be reached from the Allgäu. The striking round building of the Ifen Hotel was opened in 1936. It has a very eventful history, including being used by the National Socialists to intern prominent prisoners. In 2005 the hotel was demolished, rebuilt true to the original and expanded to include a modern wing with a spa area. In 2010, the Travel Charme Ifen Hotel reopened its doors with 125 rooms and suites.

Our room is a double room with panoramic valley view. It is spacious, bright, and from the balcony you have a beautiful view of the winter wonderland of the snow-covered Kleinwalsertal.
The hotel has three restaurants, one of which even has a Michelin star. But this is closed during our stay. We therefore decided on the “Large IFEN Alpine Cuisine” in Theo’s Restaurant. In addition to the extensive breakfast buffet and a five-course dinner with a choice of menu, there is also an afternoon Alpine snack with warm dishes, salads, sausage, cheese and cake. It was tasty!

The PURIA Spa has approx. 2500 m². It offers a large indoor pool, sauna area, fitness room, outdoor whirlpool and a 25 m outdoor infinity pool. You can pamper yourself in the treatment rooms and the private spa suite.

During our stay it was quite cloudy and it continued to snow heavily. The reward only comes on the last day. The sun shines from a flawless blue sky. The snow-covered landscape is a winter wonderland - it couldn't be more beautiful! We take a walk to the center of Hirschegg. Luckily, the hiking trail above the village has been cleared and we can walk through the beautiful winter landscape. The ski lifts are not yet open, but 100 m from the hotel you could access the Oberstdorf-Kleinwalsertal ski area via the Hubertus lift.

We liked this:
The all-round culinary service was delicious. That was a good thing, because at the end of November Hirschegg still seemed to be in pre-season-sleep, the other hotels and restaurants were all closed
Service was friendly
In the spa area there are beautiful relaxation rooms with enough space
The outdoor infinity pool is very beautiful and offers wonderful views of the mountains

We didn't like this much:
November is off-season in the Alpine region. Many hotels, restaurants and cable cars are closed and there is a lot of renovation going on for the winter season. The buffet area in the Hotel Ifen was also renovated and the best restaurant was closed. That wasn't actually a problem, but we had the impression that there were sometimes a bit of a problem with the service. But it is also cheaper during this time.
The service in the restaurant seemed to be understaffed and partly still being trained
Not everything was going well in the spa either.

Our conclusion:
A very good hotel in an impressive landscape. In November you have to live with compromises, but you also get a cheaper price.
