Kelly Spill was pregnant with her son in 2019 when she began noticing worrying symptoms, and after several misdiagnoses a colonoscopy turned up positive for rectal cancer. The potential treatments included chemo, radiation, resection, and colostomy bag for the rest of her life. However, a research nurse let her know about a new clinical trial led by #StandUpToCancer’s Colorectal Cancer Dream Team; she would be the fourth person in the U.S. to participate. Thankfully, her tumor began to shrink, and no radiation was needed.
