WISS nurtures students and provides many opportunities to cultivate their interests and passions by offering a variety of afternoon and after-school activities like: Stoke City FC Academy, International Schools Theatre Association Performing Arts Academy Shanghai (ISTA), The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, Community Choir, Community Orchestra, Concert Band, MUN, arts & crafts, various athletics (archery, badminton, basketball, dance, fencing, floorball, football, Galaxie tennis, rock climbing, softball, swimming, volleyball, unicycling), coding, cooking, drama, instrument lessons, math clubs & activities, mother tongue language clubs (Dutch, French, German, Spanish), peer counseling, photography, print journalism (magazine), robotics, science clubs & activities.

Early Years and Primary students enjoy afternoon activities as part of their school day once per week. Additionally, after school activities are offered per semester and run throughout the week for all students.

WISS is a member of the China International School Sports Association (CISSA), Shanghai Schools Sports Association (SSSA), Shanghai International Schools Athletic Conference (SISAC), and the Association of China and Mongolia International Schools (ACAMIS).
