Three Australian players injured before the T20 World Cup, but they will still be included in the squad despite their injuries, confirms the Australian coach.

The T20 World Cup 2026 is scheduled to begin next month, in February, and all 20 teams are busy with their preparations. Some teams have even announced their squads. Meanwhile, both good and bad news is coming from the Australian team.

First, the bad news: three of their players are currently injured. These three players are none other than Pat Cummins, Tim David, and Josh Hazlewood. Pat Cummins had been injured for several months but returned for the third Ashes Test, only to get injured again. Josh Hazlewood also missed the Ashes due to injury. Additionally, Tim David sustained an injury while playing for the Hobart Hurricanes in the ongoing Big Bash League tournament. However, despite their injuries, all three players are confirmed to be included in the T20 World Cup squad.

Australian team coach Andrew McDonald said, "Pat will have a scan, I think in the next four weeks. That will give us some information on whether he's fit for the World Cup. He'll be selected in the 15-man squad and then we'll get some information on how his recovery is going." Hazlewood, who bowled brilliantly in the T20I series against India earlier this season, is out of the entire Ashes series due to hamstring and Achilles injuries, but he is expected to be fit before the T20 World Cup 2026. McDonald said, "Josh is coming back to bowling. It looks like he'll be right in terms of the potential timeframe." Coach McDonald holds the same view regarding Tim David, who was injured during the BBL.
