In May of 2025, I returned to the Denver area for a few days. On the first day I was there, I met up with ‪@PlyingKibbles89‬ and ‪@LongmontRailway27‬; we then set about recording many of the grade crossings on the RTD W Line corridor between Denver and Golden. This was the first exclusively W Line crossing we taped. Here we see an eastbound W Line train comprised of two Siemens S-160 LRVs.

This crossing is a strange one. It was installed around 2012 when this line was constructed, and features entirely Western Cullen Hayes equipment. A couple of oddities jump out to me at this crossing; first, the lack of rear lights on any of the gates. I believe this to be in violation of standards requiring at least two sets of lights per primary approach; however, I also think light rail systems are exempt from this regulation. Finally, there are three Western Cullen Hayes electronic bells at this crossing, one on the near side and two on the far side. The two far side ones are within ten feet of one another, with one being on the gate mast and the other on the cantilever. Talk about redundancy.
