というレコーディング・エンジニアの阿部哲也氏からの発案により
行われた「ヘッドフォンコンサート」のもようです。

どこまで近づけて成立させられるのか？

"A recording like a concert. A concert like a recording."
It was an unprecedented experience for everyone in the hall that day!

Recording engineer Tetsuya Abe’s long-standing desire to record a concert with the same sound quality as a studio recording gave birth to the idea for the Headphone Concert.

This magical, unprecedented “recording like a concert, concert like a recording" took place during four performances at Yokohama’s Sunheart Hall on February 18 and 19, 2021, before a select audience of forty persons per show.

In order to record the raw vocals and instruments directly into the recording studio mics and equipment, no speakers or other usual concert sound devices were used. Instead, the audience listened to the high-resolution sound through headphones, just like the performers. As a result, they were able to sense delicate sounds, including breathing techniques, that can’t be heard in a normal concert.

Simultaneously, the vivacity and positive tension of a live performance could also be captured with the same quality as a recording studio.

A concert and a recording. While it is impossible to measure the good qualities of each by the same standard, how close can one come to achieving the best of both worlds? In some ways this was an attempt to find out, and the result is a rare work of art.
