In this Shelfside review, we investigate the board game, Detective: Season One, a tabletop experience that is streamlined from the original Detective: A Modern Crime Board Game. Designed by Ignacy Trzewiczek, Detective: Season One has players solving one of three cases, all with different themes and mechanics. If you've ever played games like Time Stories or Exit: The Game, you'll find a comparable experience here too! The "modern" aspect comes in with the database, companion software that can be accessed via a website, where players can get fingerprints, codes, and DNA evidence to further supplement their gameplay. Detective: Season One takes about 1.5- 2 hours for each scenario, and plays from 1-5 players.
