In this new teaching, Matt opens a deeper inquiry into how the soul initiates us through darkness, rupture, and the quiet alchemy of descent. As we move more deeply into the Winter Passage, we enter that archetypal moment when light and dark exchange their secrets and the outer world turns inward. In the same way, the inner work of healing asks us to become a holding environment for our own life, a place where what is cold and hidden can be warmed by awareness and what has been exiled can begin to return home.

In this wintering of the soul, the archetype of the wounded healer begins to stir. Not as a profession or identity, but as an actual region of the psyche, a chamber in the subtle body where an initiatory path unfolds. This path chooses us through experiences that crack us open. Grief, betrayal, rupture, and the shattering of old dreams reveal the tender doorway where incarnation becomes intimate and where the work of embodiment truly begins.

As winter draws near, the psyche longs to rest from the glare of constant becoming and return to what has been left behind, to the quiet places where renewal is already happening. This season invites us not upward into transcendence, but downward into intimacy with the dark, into the fertile soil of our aliveness, into the imaginal forest of the body, into the part of us that still remembers how to listen. Here, the wound and the medicine are seen as one mystery, glimpsed from different sides of love.
