Kunwar

The story of how the great Bundela king, Maharaj #chhatrasal Bundela first met #chhatrapatishivajimaharaj . The year was 1668 CE. Maharaja Chhatrasal was 19 years old and yet to become king. So, we've addressed him as "Kunwar Chhatrasal". This story is interspersed with poems from Gorelal Kavi (Lal Kavi) and Kaviraaj Bhushan. In fact, these poems actually build the narrative.

On the atrocities of Aurangzeb:
जबतें साह तखत पर बैठे । तबतें हिन्दुन सौं उर ऐंठे ।।
महँगे कर तीरथनि लगाए । बेद दिवाले निदरी ढहाए ।।
घर-घर बाँधि जज़िया लीनै । अपने मन भाए सब कीनै ।।

On the inaction of vassal kings:
सब रजपूत सीस नित नावैं । ऐड़ करे नित, पैदल धावैं ।।

On Shivaji Raje's rise against the Mughals:
ऐड़ एक सिवराज निबाही । करैं आपने चित्त की चाही ।।
आठ पातसाही झकझोरै । सूबन बाँध, डाँड़ लै छोरै ।।

On Kunwar Chhatrasal's decision to meet Shivaji Maharaj:
ऐसे गुन सिवराज के, बसे चित्त में आई ।
मिलवोई मन में धर्यो, मनसिब तज्यो बनाई ।।

On Kunwar Chhatrasal's journey from Bundelkhand to Raigarh
सुभट संग पटरानी लीन्ही । दुरगम गिरिन बसेरे कीन्ही ।।

घाटी नकी गिरिन की ठाढ़ी । देखि वहाँ भीमरा बाढ़ी ।।
