The National Wild Turkey Federation is proud to announce the release of “Gould’s Revival”, a film on the reintroduction of the Gould’s subspecies to the sky islands of Arizona. The Gould’s subspecies is the least known of the five subspecies in the US. Gould’s were believed extirpated from Arizona by 1929. Through the efforts of Arizona Game and Fish, the US Forest Service, the Centro Ecologico de Sonora, the NWTF, and a variety of other partners, the Gould’s has made a comeback to the sky islands of Arizona. With original transplants coming from Mexico in the 1980s, the Gould’s restoration story embodies the spirit of conservation and ingenuity that we need in today’s climate. Despite tremendous obstacles, the program has been a resounding success due to the hard work of state and federal agencies, NWTF volunteers, and private citizens. With a production schedule that took the Chasing_49 team from the desert mountains of Chihuahua and Sonora Mexico to the remote sky islands of southeastern Arizona, “Gould’s Revival” is the story of persistence and personal sacrifice. With special assistance from executive producer ‪@JayScottOutdoors‬ and his team at Goulds Turkey Hunts, this story is told in a way no Gould’s story has been told before. We would also like to extent a special thanks to Arizona Game and Fish for not only their contributions to this film, but their tireless work on the Gould’s restoration project.
