Still unsure how to measure and sew a flat fell seam? In this video, I’ll show you step by step how to create this durable, professional-looking seam with just a standard presser foot and a felling foot.

Flat fell seams are perfect for keeping seam allowances flat while neatly enclosing raw edges- ideal if you don’t have a serger or overlocker or if you have sensitive skin.

This seam is commonly used on denim jean’s inseams and shirt sides due to its strength and durability. It’s also a great choice for sewing sturdy bags!

A flat fell seam is made by tucking one fabric edge inside a folded edge, then stitching it down. With one or both sides topstitched, the raw edges are fully enclosed, preventing fraying and creating a clean, polished look.
