Sky News senior reporter Jonathan Lea says many residents and businesses in flood affected areas are unable to afford high insurance premiums - prompting one household to put everything in the roof to save it.

“The lady was considering cutting a larger manhole to get her paintings up there because she couldn’t get out,” he said.

“They can’t afford the insurance, other people can’t afford it, it’s only going to be more expensive from here."
