The worst thing about playing as Kuja is that you can't use Kuja as your assist.

Yeah, I'm still around. I've just been really busy with work lately, so I don't have as much time to play Dissidia. But enough about me; let's talk Kuja.

Most Kuja vs. Feral Chaos videos I've seen just involved spamming Ultima and sometimes Force Symphony. That seemed like a rather boring way to approach a fight, so I was determined to face Feral Chaos like a man. Well, as much of a man as you can get when you're playing a character wearing a feather in his hair and a stylish thong.

I was sort of aiming for a perfect run in this one (using Fragile Pride, but not No Damage booster), and came really close to it. My only mistake was misjudging the duration of Lux Magnus as well as not realizing that I was already backed up against the wall (lousy camera angle). It was really close too; I didn't even take any brave damage. But at that point Feral Chaos was already down to about 30k health, and all I was losing was Fragile Pride (my boosters were intact), so I just didn't care and continued forward anyway. To be honest, I'm not really that fond of playing as Kuja, so I didn't really want to retry. But I still accomplished what I set out to do (win without spamming), so I was satisfied enough.

Kuja's lack of reliable wall rushing attacks meant that this fight was going to drag on a lot longer than usual. Well, at least I got to hear God in Fire, which I haven't heard on a rather long time. I tried to chase very sparingly because whether I win or not tends to be a bit too luck-based at my current skill level, and when I'm on the cusp of a perfect run, leaving things to luck is too much of a gamble.

Kuja's EX mode is pretty terrible in 012 compared to what it was like in the original game. You thought Shantotto's EX mode was nerfed? Kuja's EX mode can now actively hurt him instead of help him. That's because Auto-Magic is now low priority instead of mid priority, and blocking it will cause Kuja to stagger. And since you don't have as much control over it as you'd like (it's called "Auto" for a reason), that just leaves you wide open to getting staggered easily in EX mode, especially against block-happy AI opponents. I went with Force to Courage in this run just to test it out. It's not really that impressive without a special build surrounding it, but I figured it'd be more useful than Side By Side due to EXP to Assist already providing several times what it normally does when up against a lvl 130 opponent.
