Burning Man Volunteer Adventures (Aug 23, 2024)! My First Shift as Airport Greeter & BTS Magic 🌟

Hey beautiful souls! 🌈 Join me on my first volunteer shift at the Burning Man Airport, where the magic of Black Rock City is just beginning to unfold! ✈️ The event hasn't officially kicked off yet, but I get a sneak peek during build week, and wow, watching this city come to life is nothing short of amazing! 😍 The energy here is electric, and I can feel it growing day by day.

I biked a chill 8 km round trip to the airport (taking it easy so I don’t burn out!), and though my 4-hour shift was cut to 2, it was the perfect intro to all the behind-the-scenes action at Burning Man and the airport. I even talk about possibly flying myself back to Reno to make it in time for school—who knows?! 🚴‍♀️

This Friday, I’m taking it slow with some indoor crafting, especially since my dysautonomia/POTS/Long Covid isn’t flaring up today—yay for small victories! 🎉 Plus, I share how a well-fitted respirator and goggles can make a world of difference out here in the dusty wonderland.

Sunday, I’m on road control duty (no trespassing, folks!), but today, it’s all about rest, recharge, and prepping for when my friends arrive to set up camp tomorrow. 🏕️

I also dive into the heart of Burning Man—the incredible, kind, and generous people who make this place so special. Why can’t the regular world be more like this? 💕 I’m super excited to give out LED lights and funky eyelashes to spread some joy and connection. In the default world: I'm also learning that sometimes, it’s okay to give just the right amount, to the right people, at the right time.
