SIHI Innovation 2015 // Partners in Leprosy Action, Phillipines

Partners in Leprosy Action (PILA) is the response of the Philippine Leprosy Mission to the global strategy recommended by WHO to put in place sustained, integrated and quality services to detect, diagnose, successfully treat and reduce disability from leprosy. The core components of the programme are 1) information sessions and training for health workers and teachers; 2) prescreening of households for any skin diseases by students as part of a school activity or by village health workers for households not covered by the school programme; and 3) treatment of confirmed leprosy cases via free skin clinics or local health centres for multi-drug therapy.
