During the early stages of the 1977 Dutch Grand Prix, James Hunt took the lead of the race from the 3rd spot of the grid with Jacques Laffite and Mario Andretti behind. After the American disposed of the Frenchman, he would pursuit the British World Champion for the 1st place.
Then, on lap 6, Andretti would try to overtake Hunt round the outside of the first corner (Tarzan) and both cars collided. Hunt would retire on the spot, while Andretti would retire several laps later after his engine expired.
