Decorated military leader, Admiral William H. McRaven (U.S. Navy Retired) join the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches for a luncheon event and book signing on Friday, May 31st, at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts’ Cohen Pavilion, located at 701 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach, FL 33401.

In his 37 years as a U.S. Navy SEAL, Admiral McRaven commanded at every level. His final assignment as a Four-Star Admiral was Commander of all U.S. Special Operations Forces, during which time he led a force of 69,000 men and women and was responsible for conducting counter-terrorism operations worldwide. Admiral McRaven is credited with organizing and overseeing the execution of Operation Neptune Spear, the special ops raid that led to the death of Osama bin Laden in May 2011. He also commanded the troops that captured Saddam Hussein and rescued Captain Richard Phillips.

Admiral McRaven is a distinguished national authority on U.S. foreign policy and has advised presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama and other U.S. leaders on defense issues. He has been recognized for his leadership numerous times by national and international publications and organizations. He was the first runner-up for TIME Magazine’s Person of the Year in 2011 and has received the Republic of France’s Legion d’Honneur, the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association’s National Award and the National Intelligence Award, among others.

After retiring from the U.S. Navy, Admiral McRaven served as Chancellor of the University of Texas System, where he led one of the nation’s largest and most respected systems of higher education. He is the author of the #1 New York Times bestselling book, Make Your Bed. Copies of his new book, Sea Stories: My Life in Special Operations, detailing stories of bravery and heroism from his career as a U.S. Navy SEAL and Commander of America’s Special Operations Forces, was available for purchase at the event thanks to a partnership with the Palm Beach Bookstore.
