Today on our 2015 Chevy Cruise, we are test fitting the Rhino Rack J style kayak carriers. This is universal mount, and the part number is S510. As you can see, we already have our kayak strapped up and locked in there. We're just gonna show you how we strap down the kayak, and then also how the j hooks actually connect to your vehicle. We're gonna start up here with the bow and stern straps. We're going to undo the strap keeper right here. Release all the extra strap.

Push down and release the strap there. Now as you can see we do have an anchor strap tucked under the hood of the vehicle and there's also one in the back there. Those are available online at etrailer.com. They do not come with the straps but you can find those separately. Just untwist this...and set those off to the side.

Same thing for the back. We just put the anchor strap in the trunk here.just to keep it secure. And it's a little better than having to hook it inside your vehicle or finding a different place under the hood or under your vehicle to strap down your kayak. I found the way we strap this down and wrap the straps around each other is the best way to keep your kayak tightly secure so you don't have to worry about it flying off, it'll. Next we're going to come to these straps here. These are what's gonna keep your kayak connected to your j hooks. So we're just gonna release the extra strap again.

Feed it through the loops here. Press down on the lever here, and release it. Now as you can see, we do have it strapped around the back it goes under your crossbar.I'm sorry, around your j hook back here, back over the front and then under your crossbar in the front. Again, I found that this is just the best way to keep you kayak carrier in place. So we'll just set those off to the side as well.

Again the strap is over the back, through the j hook, and then under the crossbar in the front. All right, once you've got all your straps removed, you can go ahead and pull your kayak down off of your j hooks. Set that off to the side. Now if we take a look at our j hooks, you can see that they do have cushions on here. This is gonna protect both the hooks and your kayak. It's a nice soft cushion. And if we take a look at the j hooks themselves and where they're connected, you can see down here in the front and back it's connected with a plate and two thumb screws. You just turn it one way to loosen them, and the other way to tighten them. And there you are. Those are the Rhino Rack J style kayak carriers, and how they work on the 2015 Chevy Cruise.
