Psalm 18 - Wasilla Bible Church

Psalm 18 is David's great victory psalm, recorded also in 2 Samuel 22. It celebrates God's deliverance of his anointed king and the establishment of his kingdom. As Psalm 18 is a celebration not only of God's steadfast love to David, but also to his offspring forevermore, it is ultimately also Jesus' victory psalm.

To sing Psalm 18, we used lyrics from Sing Psalms (©2003 Free Church of Scotland) and an original melody based on Joseph Vogel's "Victory Chant" (1985) and on the blues, the result being a combination of metrical psalmody and responsorial chant that could perhaps best be described as "responsorial rhythmic blues chant".

This recording features Joel Stamoolis on guitar and vocals, Connie Stahle and Linda Smith on vocals, Dale Tumey on tenor saxophone, Anne-Renee Gumley on piano, Stefan Marty on bass, and Jeremy Bloomstrom on drums. (Recorded in 2017)
