Tight security measures are in place in Trichy and Tuticorin ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Tamil Nadu. The Prime Minister will first arrive in Trichy before heading to Tuticorin to inaugurate the extended terminal building at the airport. He is also scheduled to launch several other development projects in the district, with a total estimated value of ₹4,800 crore. On Sunday, Prime Minister Modi will attend events in Gangaikonda Cholapuram to mark 1,000 years since King Rajendra Chola’s victory in the Gangetic plains.
