This is a real-time approximation of what Laika the dog (the first animal to orbit Earth) might have heard on 3 November 1957, from the launch of her spacecraft until her death.

0:03 Biologist Adilya Kotovskaya says "Please forgive us" (in Russian) to Laika and closes the hatch. Laika's heartrate is 103 BPM.
0:21 Sputnik 2 launches. Laika's heartrate quickly rises to 240 BPM.
(around 2:49:21 Sputnik 2 enters Low Earth orbit. There is no indication in the audio.)
3:11:53 Laika's heartrate finally calms down to normal levels, 102 BPM.
4:14:29 Laika loses consciousness.
5:28:05 The cooling system breaks apart and the temperature in the capsule begins to rise to 40°C.
5:34:29 Laika dies from overheating.
