ENGL Powerball II vs ENGL Savage 120 MKII - Metal

Turn on 1080p or higher resolution for best experience !

Quick no talking comparison & tweaking of those two ENGLs ! There was no proper shootout on youtube between those amps so I figured I'd put in the work when I had the opportunity to do so.
What you're hearing here is just the amps naked, no boosts or even external noise gates. I used a St.Rock React:IR loadbox with one of my own OwnHammer IR blend for every tone in this video, for the sake of consistency.

Personal notes :

I used the Powerball II extensively for a year and it's a really versatile, easy to use and easy to dial in 4 channel amplifier that is more versatile than it looks. However I felt like "upgrading" to a Savage MKII made more sense as I tend to prefer sharper tones and better lowend tailoring options. As you can hear on the video, the Savage is pleasantly richer in the higher frequencies without being spiky, it's an easy amp to dial in "sharp" without making it sound unmusical.

However the Powerball has this smooth character and a super neat midrange that just works so well for leads, but the reason why I sold it and kept the Savage is because the latter can do both smooth and rough sounding tones, meanwhile the Powerball II can only do smooth in my experience.
