In May 2025, the Everest ransomware gang targeted Coca-Cola’s Middle East operations, leaking highly sensitive employee data on dark web forums. The breach primarily impacted Coca-Cola’s Dubai office, exposing confidential HR documents, payroll records, and personal identification files.

🛂 What was stolen?
Everest published stolen documents that include:
🧾 Passport and visa scans
💸 Salary details and payroll spreadsheets
📁 Internal HR files and corporate communications
🧑‍💼 Organizational charts and employee IDs

🛠 How did they do it?
The attackers likely gained access using:
🔑 Compromised user credentials
🖥️ Brute-forced Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) logins
➡️ Lateral movement through RDP to escalate privileges
📤 Data exfiltration to Everest’s .onion leak site

To prove authenticity, Everest shared samples showing employee passport headers and HR spreadsheets. Security researchers validated the leaks by analyzing metadata and comparing them with past Everest campaigns.

This attack is part of Everest’s ongoing strategy of double extortion: stealing data and threatening public exposure unless ransom demands are met. The gang used .onion sites and Telegram channels, just as they did in past attacks on AT&T and NASA.

As of May 27, Coca-Cola has not officially confirmed the breach, but multiple cybersecurity analysts have verified the legitimacy of the leaked files.
