Seneca Rocks Mountain Hiking Adventure | West Virginia

Welcome everyone to Part 2 of my West Virginia weekend adventure. In today’s episode we will explore yet another other-worldly location hidden within the mountains. After a relaxing morning of exploration at Snowshoe Mountain Ski Resort it was time to pack up and travel to our second destination for the day. Perched over 800 feet high above the waters of the North Fork River, this unique geological formation is a popular tourist attraction and features a moderately challenging 3.6 out and back hike up the mountain. Dogs are welcome at Seneca Rocks but must be on a leash. The trail itself features a pedestrian bridge that offers picturesque views of the North Fork river and surrounding woodlands. After completing a series of switchbacks leading up the mountainside you will arrive at a beautifully constructed observation deck. This was by far my favorite portion of the hike due to the incredible views you will be rewarded with of the vast valley below.

The Seneca Rocks themselves are made out of Tuscarora quartzite which can be found in the Eastern portion of West Virginia. The park also features a Visitor’s Center, various picnic tables and many rock climbing opportunities. If you are ever in West Virginia you have to make Seneca Rocks a part of your itinerary because this hike was a remarkable experience.
