A quick scouting of the Ouachita Trail from Hwy 7 Trailhead to Flatside Wilderness and back. I am going to hike with a group from Hwy 7 trailhead to Hwy 9 trailhead in a couple weeks and this is just a dry run of the first section. I stayed in the Oak Mountain Shelter. This is meant to be informational only and is not cinema quality. I tried to include key points of interest to help anyone who may decide to hike this section.

I found cell service 4 times along the way to include the 1.6 mile marker and at the shelter. Not strong but usable.
