Milt Jackson's 'Bag's Groove' is one of his most famous compositions, and it is performed at jam sessions countless times around the world every day. (At least that's what I assume!)

There are many recordings of this song, but today we're going to listen to the version with Miles Davis from the 1954 Prestige recording session featuring, Miles (trumpet), Thelonious Monk (piano), Milt Jackson (vibes), Percy Heath (bass) and Kenny Clarke (drums).

This solo is the first Milt Jackson solo I ever transcribed and tried to play - and it was the doorway to understanding bebop. There are great lines that outline secondary ii-V chord progressions, passing diminished chords, bebop enclosures, and straight up blues greatness from the master himself, Milt Jackson.

In this video you will learn the inner workings of the language used in the solo, so grab your instrument and join me!
