Описание к видео SINGAPORE HAWKER FOOD | Wei Nan Wang Hokkien Lor Mee (味难忘福建卤麵) | Market Street Interim Hawker Centre

The stall was opened in 1975 at the former Boat Quay Food Centre before moving to former Golden Shoe Food Centre in the 1980s. It is run by a cordial elderly couple, now in their 80s. Routine preparation starts at 6am, including making and frying meatballs, braising pork.

A signature bowl of Lor Mee consists of flat yellow noodles topped with handmade meat balls, sliced braised lean meat, pork skin, bean sprout, and crispy fried crackers. Noodles are blanketed with a coat of luscious gravy. A touch of vinegar, a spoonful of garlic, and some chilli will enhance the Lor Mee experience.

For more than four decades, their tasty Lor Mee has certainty stood the test of time. The name of stall 味难忘 was inspired by a classic oldies song - 意难忘, a popular song in the mid-1970s.

When asked what motivates them to continue working at their age, they replied, saying it keeps them active and fit. It is heartwarming and inspiring to feel the strong passion of this pioneer couple.

After the completion of the redeveloped Golden Shoe Food Centre, i.e. the Capital Spring building, they will be shifting over there next year.
