Ilkley Lido Summer Solstice 4K

Описание к видео Ilkley Lido Summer Solstice 4K

The Ilkley Lido was opened in May 1935 as part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations of King George V.
The construction commenced a year earlier in 1934. The Lido will therefore be celebrating its 100th anniversary in just ten years.

Historically, the capacity of the Lido was 5,000, but in recent years that number has been reduced to a figure closer to 3,000.

The Lido provides a wonderful right of passage for young people, to interact and socialise with their peers, within a very secure environment. It has also always been a great space to enjoy a picnic on Summer afternoon's after primary school pick-up.

The Lido reinforces Ilkley's tradition of providing good quality public service provision to both its local populous as well as those who are able to travel to it from the local environs and enjoy the unique privilege it offers.

During the Summer Solstice, 500 tickets are sold prior to the day, so that people can come for a swim from sunrise, which is around 4.30am at that time of year - another unique experience, greatly valued by all who are able to utilise its facility.
