While the academic year has begun, reports are that several students are stranded because the National Student Financial Aid Scheme has not paid their bursaries.

This is despite NSFAS making an upfront payment of R2,8 billion to universities and R580 million to TVET colleges to cover student accommodation and book allowances for a month.
