Someone asked me the other day "do you think I really need to work with a financial advisor"? So I told them the Warren Buffett quote, 'Never ask a barber if you need a haircut". but then I let him know at Streamline financial, we're so not sales and we're not desperate to work with new clients and we only want to work with people who really will benefit. Actually, we don't work with anyone where our value provided isn't more than the cost of working together. So I wanted to share a few reasons when it could be a good idea to work with a financial advisor. and by the way, if you end up not wanting to work with an advisor, check out the DIY Retirement plan in the description below. So, onto the first reason you might want to work with an advisor. you get to a certain level of assets where you realize a mistake made can mean lots of dollars. and a big mistake now is not one you can afford. Something to be aware of is that every financial decision is part financial and part emotional. And as you get closer to that retirement date, the emotional part of the decisions gets bigger and bigger. I talk to people frequently who decided to move a big portion of their investments to cash because they felt it was the right thing to do. 10 years prior, they wouldn't have made this decision, but now, because they will be using this money for income soon, they wanted to make it secure. but there are better ways to make your nest egg secure and your income secure. And it's NOT by buying insurance or annuity products.
