Bike Lane Caransebes 2021 | Teius Park Caransebes | First Bike Lane in the City

Hello Escapers! It's great to be back here with you, after difficult times… Today I invite you for a ride on the first bike lane in this part of Romania.

It is 2021 and unfortunately, only now we have the first bike lane, marked with white lines, especially designed and designated for cyclists.

It is interesting to know, the first bicycle path was built in 1885 in the city of Utrecht along the Maliebaan and later, in 1899, with two paved bicycle paths alongside the Breda-Tilburg cobblestone road.

On June 15, 1894, Ocean Parkway, in Brooklyn New York, became the first street in the U.S. to have a designated bike lane. The nearly five-mile stretch of road was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, the urban planning masterminds behind Central Park and Prospect Park.

Copenhagen is one of the world's best cities for biking, with more than 200 miles of bike lanes and two of just a handful of bike superhighways built worldwide. Meanwhile, of the top 20 most bike-friendly cities in the world, only one is in the US, while 17 are in Europe.

Back in 1900, Los Angeles began construction on the world's first bike highway. During this bike-crazed era, cities across the US built the earliest precursors to today's protected bike lanes.

By late July 1967, the very first official bike lane in Davis and in the United States was created on 8th Street between A Street and Sycamore Lane. It was the first time that a lane for the preferential use of bicyclists had been designated as part of an existing roadway meant for vehicles.

Unfortunately, we have a missing link between the two parts of the lane. We hope that they will be connected in the near future, although technically it is a bit challenging to do it because of this slope.
