Soloing Whitewater in Early Spring Flood Conditions: Race Against Darkness. After postponing my trip down the Upper Madawaska by a week due to flooding, I headed back to Whitney Ontario to give it another try. I thought it would be the perfect river to test out my new Super Nova by Nova Craft. After outfitting the canoe with my North Water spray deck and loading up, I set off for a fun and longer-than-expected trip back to my truck which I had parked at the first bridge. The plan was to finish the river in 6 hours but things didn’t go quite as expected and it took me much longer than I had imagined. In the end, I found myself racing against the setting sun.
