Lean Office Overview - Video #15 of 36. Lean Training System Module (Phase 3)

While Lean is traditionally thought of as a tool for the shop floor, it has become much more common to find it being used to create the Lean Office.
Essentially, the goal of the Lean Office is to reduce waste and create flow, so work moves rapidly, start to finish, with as little time as possible waiting in queues. Typically, office work is completed in a “throw it over the wall” manner, where each individual just completes what is in front of them with little regard for what the upstream and downstream piles look like.
There is also very little support between individual, so when a person leaves for a day, they return to a pile of work on their desk.
The Lean Office helps reduce or eliminate those problems.
