With its neon lights and billboards, Times Square is New York's most famous landmark and is the liveliest area in the city, located at the intersection of Broadway and 7th Avenue.


In 2017, as part of One Times Square's redevelopment, plans were announced to construct a new Times Square museum, observation deck, and a new entrance to the Times Square–42nd Street subway station.

It is the site of the annual New Year's Eve ball drop, which began on December 31, 1907, and continues to attract over a million visitors to Times Square every year, in addition to a worldwide audience of one billion or more on various digital media platforms.

Times Square got its name when the namesake newspaper, The New York Times, took up residence in the building (now known as One Times Square) in 1904.
