Kerala Land Dispute Intensifies, WAQF Board Claims Over 400 Acres | India Today news

In Kerala, protests have intensified over a land dispute involving the WAQF board and local villagers. The board has claimed over 400 acres of land in the Munambam area, affecting around 600 families, most of whom belong to the Christian community. The Kerala government has scheduled a high-level meeting on 22nd November to discuss the issue. The WAKF board first claimed the land in 2019, and despite government intervention allowing villagers to pay tax, the board petitioned the high court against it. Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has assured justice to the villagers.
