However, Ansari clarified the situation during a recent press conference, revealing that Reeves had tripped over a carpet during a break. Ansari had asked Reeves to rest in his dressing room for 15 minutes, but Reeves suddenly called out in pain, saying, "My knee!"
Despite the injury, Reeves, 59, continued to film all scenes except those requiring salsa dancing, demonstrating remarkable professionalism. Ansari praised Reeves' resilience, comparing him to a soldier. "He's like a soldier," Ansari said. "Despite the pain and mobility issues, he still filmed everything. We had to restrain him, telling him to relax and wait until his knee healed before filming the salsa scenes."
Ansari also highlighted Reeves' history of putting himself in high-risk situations for action films, such as 'Speed', the 'John Wick' series, and 'The Matrix'. "In fact, Keanu shot the scene where he jumps out of a car into another car for 'Speed'. Although they didn't use that take in the final cut, he did it," Ansari revealed.
Reeves and Ansari co-wrote and co-directed 'Good Fortune' alongside Seth Rogen and Keke Palmer. The project was first announced in April 2023, with Lionsgate Motion Picture Group president Joe Drake expressing excitement about the collaboration. The film has the potential to be a unique and special project for Lionsgate.
