Today was a stifling humid day with dew points getting to the mid and upper 70s and close to 80 at times by late afternoon. Despite promising looking skies with towering Cu, all the action set up over Central New Jersey, as Severe Thunderstorms redeveloped in that area, over and over again, resulting in over a month's worth of rainfall in locations along the Shore in Monmouth and northern Ocean Counties.
All of LI's action was in the early morning hours over the South Shore of Suffolk. We just had a messy blob of rain linger around for much of the evening. Slow moving cold front inches offshore through tomorrow, so relief from the humidity will be slow.
As for June, it wound up being above normal by 2 to 3 degrees. Along with the record 100+ degree heat breaking all time monthly records. Despite so many dreary, damp, rainy days, because it was mostly light rain & drizzle, it didn't put that much in the rain gauge, and precip was around 2 inches below normal for the month.
