Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang’s visit to Pakistan is a good omen for the economy of the country as well as strengthening the bilateral relations between both countries. It was his first official visit to Pakistan and bears great importance in the current situation. On the invitation of Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Mr. Qin Gang participated in the 4th round of Pakistan-China Foreign Minister-level bilateral dialogue which was held last week in Islamabad. Both sides discussed political, strategic, economic, defense security, education, and cultural sectors, besides bilateral relations and cooperation. Both the leaders also discussed issues of mutual interest at regional as well as global levels. The Foreign Minister of Pakistan congratulated the Chinese leadership on the successful holding of the ‘Two Sessions’. He wished China’s people and the new leadership greater success in building a strong, prosperous, and modern socialist country. He also expressed his resolve to work together with State Councilor Qin Gang to further fortify the Pakistan-China relationship.
The two Foreign Ministers underlined that Pakistan-China friendship was a historic reality and a conscious choice of the two nations. Both sides agreed on continuing their enduring support on issues concerning each other’s core national interests. Reaffirming Pakistan’s special place in China’s neighborhood diplomacy, the Chinese side reiterated its firm support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, as well as its unity, stability, and economic prosperity.
