The action takes place in the distant future, where a huge spaceship called Avalon departs from planet Earth, carrying on board more than five thousand passengers who decided to leave their home planet and go on a long journey, so that after 120 years they can start a new life on one of the colonies. Immediately after the launch, all passengers and crew were immersed in artificial sleep, but something went wrong and the young mechanic Jim Preston suddenly woke up ninety years before the planned achievement of the final goal. Trying to find out the reason for his awakening, he wanders around a huge and completely empty ship, trying to get at least some answers, but only becomes convinced that he is doomed to a long and lonely life. A year later, he decides to take a desperate act, which will result in unexpected consequences...
