The United States dealt Guyana a strong blow when it announced that the South American state will have to pay 38% new tariffs under the Trump Tariffs trade policies unveiled on April 2, 2025. Guyana is shocked at the high tariffs and does not agree with the US data used to calculate the amount of tariffs it has to pay.

Guyana self-reports its trade data to UN Comtrade. Verifying the accuracy of the US reports to UN Comtrade is now the main focus of Guyana’s government. The country plans to seek a tariff reduction based on its own trade data. WATCH for more.
