Everyone was singing, dancing, springing, at the wedding

and when Sadie heard him play, she jumped up and
looked him in the eye. Yiddle swelled his chest way out.

Everyone was taken by surprise and they heard Sadie shout:

At the supper table Sadie thought
Yiddle went away from the room
She looked all around but they could not
find him 'til she heard him drinking soup

Sadie waited 'til they served the fish
Then she jumped upon the floor
Placed a shilling right on Yiddle's dish
And yelled to him once more

This is sung by one of the British Empire's most talented music hall artists, Stanley Kirkby.

He made many recordings!

Stanley Kirkby, born James Baker, was born in 1878 and raised in Ancoats, Manchester.

His father was an iron moulder named George Baker.

The baritone enjoyed success as a music hall singer and recording artist. Kirkby was very prolific as a recording artist. It's possible he made more records in Britain from 1904 to 1930 than any other singer (Peter Dawson might match him).

In 1915 he teamed up with Harry Hudson to form the popular duo "Kirkby and Hudson." They entertained audiences into the 1920s.

He used pseudonyms for HMV: Charles Holland, Walter Miller, Murray Johnson, Fred Cooper, George Dent, Rupert Hazell, Gerald Orme, Jim Donovan, Frank Williams, George Daly, George Claff, Sam Ireland, Frank Ashton, and Mike Magee.

He was a cousin of the contralto opera singer Louise Kirkby Lunn (she was born in 1873).

He died in 1949.
