During the Korean War, UN forces dominated the skies. Yet China kept nearly a million troops supplied with food, fuel, and ammunition. How?

Instead of relying on trucks and roads, Chinese logistics ran on porters, mules, and camouflage. Supply columns moved by night, hidden in mountains and forests, while bridges were concealed or even submerged underwater to avoid detection.

By late 1950, China had stockpiled massive reserves near the Yalu River: 16,000 tons of grain, 10,000 barrels of fuel, nearly a thousand trucks, and hundreds of thousands of uniforms and shells. UN air power was overwhelming—but not magic. It couldn’t see through trees, fog, or the night.
