Standard broadheads use the archery industry standard .204" shank and 8-32 threads. Deep Six broadheads use a smaller .165" diameter shank and 6-40 threads. Snyder Core broadheads use the .165" diameter shank and 6-40 threads like Deep Six, while having an extended shank for extra strength and alignment on micro diameter arrow shafts.

Most outserts and half-outs position the broadhead out in front of the arrow because the broadhead shank is too large to fit inside micro diameter arrow shafts. This creates a lever that increases stress making it more likely to bend or break on heavy bone impacts, resulting in an immediate stop of penetration. For the best connection strength and alignment, we recommend using a broadhead size and HIT Inserts that allow your broadhead to be seated inside the arrow. For standard 5mm diameter arrows, that means choosing a Standard sized broadhead and HIT Insert. For micro 4mm arrows, that means choosing a Deep Six or Snyder Core broadhead and Deep Six HIT Insert.

For additional arrow connection strength, we recommend sliding an Impact Collar over the tip of your arrow, which reinforces the carbon shaft between the Impact Collar and HIT Insert to keep your arrow's momentum driving forward on heavy bone impacts.
