Weather: windy (no boost for me)
Duraludon's moveset: AoE Hyper beam/Target Dragon claw (Dragon claw is boosted)
As stated by another Pokemon Go content creator, Dynamax Excadrill without any sort of boost (no ae, no weather, no helper, and obviously no mushroom) can't quite beat Duraludon before enrage kicks in. This has remained an obstacle that I first tried to tackle with a mimicking of enrage stalling (triple shielding Zamazenta after the 6th cycle), then surviving a fully enraged cycle to then dynamax with Excadrill again. While this doesn't allow Excadrill to dynamax any more often, it would still add some cheap damage in total. Unfortunately this damage turned out to not be enough, and it also was a RNG grind to survive an extra cycle in the first place.
After trying this strategy for two days, I eventually figured out another, that would get me the win in only a few attempts (in fact, the first that got the correct moveset). Here is how it unfolded:
Part 1: the 5 first max cycles.
For this strat to work, I needed to keep as much health on Zacian as possible for a reason we'll go over later. We know two important things from earlier runs:
It is possible to 2vs1 Duraludon. Even though such a performance was only done with helpers and weather, the alliance of Exca and Zama is still enough to go through the 5 first cycles. For good measure, I rarely used Zacian to tank Dragon claws just in case Dura spammed Hyper beams near the end of the segment. Zama can live with 1HP for all we care, but needs to be alive nonetheless
Another raider noticed that Duraludon enrages after the 1st move of the 6th cycle if Excadrill spams Earthquakes (you want to avoid that), and made sure to hold onto his energy enough to not delay max cycles too much. However, we can actually work around that by skipping the countdown before dynamax, which is done by switching to Excadrill straight away. To do that, you need to NOT have Excadrill out as the meter fills, which is the reason why I would switch to Zama before. From this point I can spam as many Earthquakes as I want and still get the boss to enrage late enough. The cheap damage is way more important than avoid getting hit by the 4th move in this segment.
Part 2: The last two max cycles.
At this point, the priorities flip: you absolutely need to avoid getting hit by the 4th move in both these cycles. And so you go for fast moves only, although with the right timing you can barely squeeze an Earthquake in (certainly not more).
If everything was done correctly in the first segment, the boss will enrage after the 2nd move of the 6th cycle, while your Zacian is nearly full HP and your other 2 pokemons are still alive, no matter how low. From there, RNG intervenes at two points:
The third move of the 6th cycle has to be Dragon claw (somewhere over 50% chance, since Dragon claw is 3 bar vs 1 bar Hyper beam). Zacian's role is to tank this one with enough health to eat a second one. Dragon claw being target helps here, since you can reduce Claw's damage. After this is done, you can access the 6th max phase. If Dura rolls the large attack for this specific move instead, you might as well restart right away and save revives.
The boss needs to use at least one Dragon claw during the 7th cycle, and it must not be the 3rd only. In other words, you will win as long as Dura doesn't go for back to back Hyper beams as soon as the 7th cycle begins.
Either it goes for Dragon claw straight away, in which case you tank it on Zacian, and then sac both your tanks on the 2nd or 3rd move for Excadrill to remain alive, or you get one AoE move first, in which case you sac Zama, then tank the incoming Dragon claw on Zacian, then sacrifice Zacian on the 3rd move. And this about sums up how to access the final max phase, and secure the win.
