... Ya, it's technically a baritone, but I still think this is a cool arrangement with three parts being played by one instrument (and not an extended range instrument at that). Of course this is a culmination of me turning an Ibanez gsr205 into a six string version, and adding a sliding pickup for good measure. If you pay attention, you can see that both the bass and rhythm parts are played with the pickup at center, where as I moved the pickup to the neck position for the leads. The bass part is distinguished from the rhythm through use of finger style to give it that classic bass-y boost. The pickup at the bridge position was a little too harsh for me to use in this context. In a lot of my other videos using this instrument, I got many comments about how harsh it sounded probably because my original pickup solution was in that bridge position. Hopefully this video gets some of you to come around and like this instrument!
